Desert Expedition 2009

Botswana, Kwa Tuli, offers a great desert location with a diverse range of wildlife available. Members of the expedition will be picked up from the airport and transferred to a hotel where they will spend the first night recovering from their long flight before preparing the next day to depart for base camp at Kwa Tuli national park. On arrival at base camp the expedition members will meet with our local guides who will give a full introduction and briefing on the expedition. The base camp is situated in a game safe area of the national park and consists of a tented compound surrounded by an authentic thorn bush coral.

The expedition will move across the Kwa Tuli savannah each day learning various traditional and modern bushcraft and survival techniques. The local flora and fauna will also be covered along with techniques used by the indigenous people who have survived off the land for thousands of years. Members will also look at how the modern world has impacted on this traditional life and return to the safety of base camp each night to sample some traditional foods.

The expedition will culminate in a group debrief and then a practical demonstration on how to deal with an animal carcass - from skinning right down to cooking and eating it in the traditional African style. Following this, members will then be accompanied back to the airport to catch their flight home.
