What's needed to survive? The 'survival gears' model

A number of factors go into what's required to survive, one of which can be luck. However, many of us wouldn't want to place our well being on such a situation, and as French chemist Louis Pasteur said - 'chance favours the prepared mind'. So we've constructed the survival gears. Only when all '3 gears' turn can we survive. First we learn the skills, these can come from: Experts, Books or TV presenters such as Ray Mears and Les Stroud. The second stage is to get confident this can only be achieved through 'perfect practice', trying harder or longer won't improve your technique. These two gears let you master the last, psychology, with the skills and confidence comes true ability. It's once this is mastered you can have the capability to not only survive but lead others around you too. All these techniques are covered on SurvivalBushcraft courses.
